9/19/05	George Hoke writes: "After graduation from UHS I spent almost a year in the Navy and then attended Purdue graduating in Mechanical Engineering in 1950. I beat around for a few years before coming to Seattle and Boeing in 1955. I retired in 1989. I have two daughters and a son and five grandchildren. My wife Betsey passed away early in 2003. Although I only attended UHS for my senior year, I have fond memories of it. Good friends made it so."
2/23/05	Warren Herminghausen writes: "Three of us, me, my brother, Dick and Charles Partee 'graduated' in December '44. I think our photos are in the '45 yearbook. We had come to Bloomington to play with a dance band, Max Greer, and had received certificates of eligibilty to IU. However, when we got to town and tried to register, we were found to be a credit or two short. As a result, we enrolled at UHS. I took journalism and was features editor of the newspaper. Teacher was Ingrid Strom. A must course was Health and Safety taught by the basketball coach, Virgil something-or -other. And finally, PE. I'll always remember that because in one class I had to wrestle Dave Roger's older brother. He killed me. My brother and I lived in a house on the street just south of 5th street -- behind to Phi Psi house, I think. (Zounds, I just thought of it. Atwater!!!) Our neighbor, classmate and friend was Virginia Hoadley. She married a chap named Tyke or something like that. I think he was a dentist or attorney. I corresponded with her a few years back (got her address from IU Alumni Assn.) and learned that most of the kids I remembered from the three short months we were enrolled at UHS had died or moved away. My brother Dick died in Hilton Head last year. Partee, last I heard, had retired after being a grand poohbah with the Internal Revenue. I had headed up an advertising agency here in Dayton for some 30-odd years. Ive been retired for about 15 years. Prior to suddenly getting old (about two years ago) I played tennis four or five times a week, rode my bike 300/400 miles a month and played flugal horn and trumpet in a more-or-less modern jazz combo."
3/9/04	From Steve Herminghausen, son of Warren Herminghausen and nephew of Richard Herminghausen: "The info on your page on the class of 1945 (http://freepages.school-alumni.rootsweb.com/~mjolson/1945.htm) for my Dad is fine. I'm sorry to report that my uncle Richard Herminghausen, most recently of the Hilton Head, SC area, died last Thursday, March 4, 2004." Steve sends the following from the 3/7/2004 Columbus Dispatch: HERMINGHAUSEN Richard Herminghausen, 76, of Sun City, Hilton Head died March 4, 2004. He was preceded in death by first wife Colleen. Survived by wife, Ruthann Irvine; daughters, Candi Fettrow, Sara Connor and Kitti Slusarz; brother, Warren Herminghausen; sons-in-law, Roger and Chris; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service is at 1 p.m., March 9 in the Burkhardt Chapel at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. Family requests remembrances be made to Savannah Hospice House, 1352 Eisenhower Dr., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
2/10/02	According to the Herald Times on 2/10/02, Joseph Robert Hamros, 75, of Bloomington, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002. He was born June 14, 1926, the son of Joseph and Hazel (Abright) Hamros in Bloomington, IN. He was in the UHS Class of 1945. Thanks to Becky Gregory for the information.
