Frances Owen Raub writes via a friend: "Dear Mike, Greetings from an old classmate and old childhood playmate. Just submitted my address in Texas. I have made a reservation at IU Memorial Union for 7/30 and 7/31, but I have no other information about our reunion. Carol Richardson gave me the information about the date. Please mail or call me with all the other particulars. I don't own a computer, so a co-worker is helping me with this message, so you can't e-mail me back. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a month! Fran

Extracted from a longer obituary in the June 3 Herald-Times for Bruce Gregory (Greg) Temple:
NASHVILLE — Bruce Gregory (Greg) Temple, former publisher of the Brown County Democrat weekly newspaper, died Monday, May 31, 2004, at his home in Nashville, Indiana. A third-generation journalist, Mr. Temple had lived in Brown County since 1970.
Mr. Temple was graduated from The University School in Bloomington, Indiana, and Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. He also attended Indiana University, Bloomington, I.U. School of Law in Indianapolis and I.U.'s School of Journalism.
Greg began his journalism career as a carrier for the Herald-Telephone in Bloomington. While going to high school and college, he worked in various capacities at the newspaper, including printer's apprentice. Mr. Temple's career included writing, editing and management at the Indianapolis News, the Hammond (Ind.) Times, the Bloomington (Ind.)Tribune, and the Courier-Journal & Louisville (Ky.) Times.
His personal interests included amateur dramatics and, beginning in college, public-address announcing and radio broadcasting as host of educational programs called "Jazz Directions," featuring his favorite music. It was that passion that led him to become a charter director and member of the Louisville Jazz Council and the Hoagy Carmichael Jazz Society. Most recently Mr. Temple was able to fulfill this passion with WFHB-FM's "Golden Age Radio," and "The Headphone Tourist" programs.
Professionally, Mr. Temple was an award-winning journalist, receiving scores of state and national citations. Under his editorship, the Brown County Democrat twice won the Hoosier State Press Association's designation as the best weekly newspaper in Indiana. Similarly, the National Newspaper Association regularly cited the Democrat for journalistic excellence.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville, with a reception following at Salt Creek Golf Club. Preparations are being made to establish an educational memorial in honor of Mr. Temple. Donations will be accepted at First Bank in Nashville, Indiana.

Dave Campaigne sends this:  There will be a memorial service (no mass) for Bruce at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville, IN at 1:30 PM on June 13, 2004.  The memorial will be followed by a wake at the Salt Creek Country Club.  All Univees and FOG (Friends of Greg) are invited.

Dave Campaigne '60  writes:

I'm saddened to tell you that Bruce Gregory Temple, Class of '59, died last evening at 6:30.  For those who knew Bruce well, you'll be glad to hear he was listening to Louis Armstrong when he died.

Some may remember that Bruce and Sandy Timms, Class of '61, were married for many years.  They have two terrific kids, Caleb and Stacy, living in the Washington, D.C. area.  Cal and Stacy each have a daughter less than a year old.  I know their Pop was really proud of them.

Bruce played second base for the original Rotary Club Little League team when the league was founded by Noble Bush in the early 1950's.  He graduated from UHS is 1959, (Hon. 1960), was a fellow member of the AEL, graduated from Hamilton College in 1963, was a thoughtful journalist and remained a great friend for 48 years.

A dry martini will be consumed in his name and in honor of the Eels.
