Class of '36

Howell High School graduates, Class of 1936, gathered Sept 4, 1996,
to comemorate their 60th high school reunion.

Of the original 97 members of the class, 35 attended the reunion.
This group was the first to spend its entire K-12 school career in the
then new school, which was the only one in town and stood on the site
of the present post office.

At that time, classes were enlarged at the ninth grade level, when
students from the rural schools came to finish high school. It marked
a right of passage for the rural students, who left home to board in
town or share rides with older students who had the use of cars.
