(who has lost his shift keys, or who never had any to start with) said
to the IN-BLOOMINGTON-UHS-L email list (in response to a question about
whether '63 is having a reunion this year - answer to that one is yes) -- class of '66 is having a reunion on saturday night, june 21st at nick's. i assume all y'all are welcome, or not unwelcome. can't see 'em kicking ya out if ya show up. i'll vouch for ya, if need be. jwc |

writes "Just heard about Chris Asdell's death--quite a shock. As many
of you know, we played together for probably three years in our band,
known as The Huns. He was quite a good guitar player and a really fun
guy to be around. After HS graduation, we tried to do some gigs
together, but it was really tough for me since I was at Rose Poly in
Terre Haute, so I ended up dropping out of the band sometime in 1967. I
never had any contact with Chris after that. I did get an update on his
whereabouts from Craig Kroll, our drummer, who lives in West Lafayette.
He told me that Chris was really into animals--and not much else. I
guess he never married? I am really sorry to hear of Chris' death. Brings the whole concept of mortality right to my doorstep...I've been figuring I've got another 30 years, but who knows?" |
| 12/25/2007 | Nancy Ayers Shaw writes: "Married to Robert Shaw of Bloomington, 3 Children, 11 Grandchildren. My husband and I own our family business in Real Estate Development and Rentals." |
| 12/20/07 | Ted Miller writes: "After 21 years in Chicago area, now in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family in Bloomington all gone. Still a Hoosiers fan which is sometimes hard in Iowa. Learned of this web site from John Cottner who called to tell me of the death of Chris Asdell this week. (Dec 2007) Chris, John, Bob Henry and I were part of a champion "Quiz Bowl Team" |
| 12/19/2007 | Charles C. (Chris) Asdell died in Bloomington on December 17, 2007. He was preceded in death by his father and by his brother George. He is survived by his mother, Ruth J. Asdell of Bloomington. Known to his friends as Chris, he graduated from Bloomington High School. He received his B.S. degree in English from Indiana University. During the Vietnam War he served in Army Intelligence and after returning from Vietnam he continued for many years in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he achieved the rank of Major. Highlights of his career include teaching and coaching in the Bedford, Indiana, school system, being an investigator for the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office and serving as a wildlife trainer for the Indianapolis Zoo. He was an accomplished guitarist, loving caretaker of animals, an outdoors enthusiast and had an active interest in politics and world affairs. |
| 10/23/07 | Mary Barnett Barnett writes: "After high school I attended and graduated from I.U. with a degree in English. Moved to Richmond, VA. and worked in a legal firm, mortgage company, and later taught kindergarten for several years. Married a man with my same last name (no relation) in 1973. We have one daughter, 26, working in the medical field in Richmond. Enjoyed a home on ten acres with our own pond and woods and have worked closely with my husband in his outdoor writing over the years. Have only been back to Bloomington once in all of these years as my parents retired in Richmond. My best friend, Elizabeth Johnson, moved here as well and married my husband's brother, so we became sisters-in-law! We hope to make it back to Indiana one of these days." |
| 10/19/07 | Karen Larsen Grohs writes: "I lived in St. Cloud, MN, and Portland, OR, after graduation, before moving recently to Nevada. I taught college English for 25 years and am now teaching online for Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, for The Center for Talented Youth. After being divorced for twelve years, I recently remarried, and my husband Jack and I retired (well, I'm only semi-retired) to Nevada. I have three children, five grandchildren, and two very spoiled cats. I have published poetry in several magazines, including Minnesota Monthly, the magazine for Minnesota Public Radio. I'm glad to find out what my old classmates are doing." |
| 6/12/06 | In lieu of a 40th class reunion, Teri Mahigian and Carol Greene are inviting 1966 classmates to join them at Nick's on Friday, June 16th, 6:30 pm to drink a toast to our 40 year anniversary. Anyone who can come can email Teri at teribobusa@hotmail.com that way we'll know if we need to reserve a room at Nick's. |
| 10/25/05 | Dr. Michael Ira List, D.V.M., died Saturday, Sept 22 at Bloomington Hospital. He was owner/veterinarian of Blue Sky Veterinary Clinic. Survivors include his wife, his father, one son, and one daughter. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, Michael List Fund, 101 W. Kirkwood Ave., Suite 321, Bloomington, IN 47404. - thanks to Eileen Witney Balliet for the information. |

Edwards Warren
writes: "I will not be able to attend the Gala this year, though my
sister (Julia) and I are trying to figure out how to get back there
together some day. I have lived in Camarillo for 20 years - about 18 years too long since I am a gypsy by nature. Camarillo is truely God's country as far as climate goes, though the cost of living is rather steep. Since I have not moved, I have spent the time remodeling our home (inside and out). I work for Wellpoint Health Network as a RN and telecommute from my home 4 out of 5 days a week. I am also the parish nurse for my church in Ventura and spend my Sundays as the Baby nurse. My husband (of 34 yrs) and I plan to retire in Prescott, AZ in about 5 years. We have two children, Carl is 32 yrs old, and Jeana is 29 yrs old. Both children are into making drugs - just kidding they work for Amgen, a bioengineering company. Neither kids are married or with children - yet. I get plenty of hugs from all the babies I take care of on Sunday, so I can wait for grandchildren. - Catherine Edwards Warren |
| 9/17/05 | Alan Robock writes: "I am a professor of meteorology and climatology at Rutgers University in New Jersey. I am back from a sabbatical in Antarctica and Paris, teaching and doing research. You can find out all about what I do at my home page, http://envsci.rutgers.edu/~robock . I not only study climate change, but recently wrote an article on weather imagery in Bob Dylan songs. You can get a copy of it and all my other papers on my home page. I have been married to my second wife, Sherri West, a history professor, for 15 years and have two stepsons, 29 and 25. I haven't been back to Bloomington since the 10th reunion, but think of it with fond memories. I broke my foot just before the 25th reunion and could not come. My father just turned 90, and still plays tennis and travels. I would love to hear from you."" |
| 9/16/05 | Sherri Rieger Williams writes: "I, too, am wondering whatever happened to that class photo from our 25th. After being divorced for 9 years, in August 2005, I married Dave Williams, who works for HP, . I have a son, 26, and a daughter, 24, and now two stepchildren. I have been a guidance counselor at a local high school for 6 years. In November I returned to B'ton for my father's funeral where I was happy to see Steve and Linda Rolfe, and my old beau, Glory Ushakow. I communicate with Lucy Rockwood frequently, and hope to hear from more of you." |
| 9/6/05 | David
Perry writes: "I
just stumbled on our class list and noted that my listing was more than
ten years out of date. Although I get back to Bloomington
occasionally to see my aging mother, I haven't seen any of the U-School
crowd since our 25th reunion. (Whatever happened to the group
photo we posed for but never received?) A lot of water has
passed
beneath the bridge since then. I moved to Wyoming ten years
ago,
lost my wife to cancer nine years ago, remarried seven years later,
successfully got my daughter through college and launched her on her
own marriage journey this summer." .... ed note - if anyone has a copy
of that reunion photo they'd like to share, I'll put it online here ...

wrote: "I received an invitation for the 2005 UHS reunion via my sister
Gail Parsons Michael. I was so hoping I would be able to go,
but
my husband reminded me we are already committed for the weekend of Oct.
29. Although I did not get to graduate with the
class [my
family moved the summer before my Junior year], I appreciate being
invited to the reunions. Please include my name in
the list
of persons to receive invitations for next year .... I really do want
to come!" Thanks for all, Helen [Parsons] Czuba Would have been [and was at heart] UHS class of '66 |
| 8/2/05 | Judith Conn Goodnow writes "I haven't been back to Bloomington since the 25th reunion. I am an attorney in NH, working for Citizens Bank as a VP and Trust Officer. My one son, Griff, works in Boston. My husband is at HP, most likely retiring soon under the impending reduction in force. We have a cottage on a lake in NH, as well as a canoe and a cat." |
| 7/23/05 | Lynn Suer writes: "I've been living in the San Francisco Bay area since I first landed here in 1968 to go to CAL, except for a few years at UC DAvis for a graduate program. I have two boys - 21 and 16 years old, my husband is a botanist/professor, and I work at EPA in the Superfund program. My last trip to Bloomington was last year for my mother's funeral. I was happy to see find that despite the many changes, many old "haunts" remain. I enjoyed walking in the woods on campus." |

I got the following
message from Chuck
Welch, who
is looking for Carol
Dawn Patterson.
"While I'm not an alumni of UHS I went to school with a classmate of
yours who should have graduated in 1966. Lost contact with
her
after 6th grade and received a wedding invitation from her in either 68
or 69. Would like to get in contact with her. Her
name is
Carol Dawn Patterson. Don't know if she transferred to
another
school prior to graduation from UHS. Thank you for your
help!" Carol Patterson is not on the list
I have for
'66. If anyone knows her, let me know so I can add her here.
-- Margaret Edmondson
Olson, UHS '52,
webmistress. I could use some help in updating the list for '66. I'd love to hear from anyone with a good class list. I have not seen a Jordannus for '66 and know I must be missing some of your class members' names. I'd really like to have as good a list as possible in time to send the All School Reunion information to as many people as possible. That mailing will be going out in mid-August. |

Susan Hofstetter Mohme wrote to give change of address to Surprise, AZ. She says: "Bill and I have managed to live in California, New Jersey, Louisiana and Arizona in the last umpteen years. We have one son, Chris, who currently lives in Tempe, AZ. We love to travel in the U.S. or internationally whenever possible. We have not been back in Bloomington in three years now and miss seeing it. We visited regularly when my folks were still living." |
