Joe's father, Frank, born 23 April 1877, died in 1939. He immigrated in 1880-82.

In 1920, Frank 43 (b Posen, farm laborer) and Catherine 33 NE, live in Hand Co SD with sons Leonard 8, Lawrence 7, Norbert 5, & Frank (Jr) 3, all b SD. --28 Jan 1920 Fairview Twp, Hand Co SD, ED170 p4B. Frank registered for the WW1 draft in Sept 1918.
In 1930, the family still lived in Fairview twp, and added children Joseph H '38, age 11, Mary C '41, age 6, and Edward F, 4. --24 Apr 1930, Fairview, Hand SD, ED9 p1B. The family moved to Idaho in 1934.
Frank, Catherine, Joe and other family are buried in St Thomas Cemetery.
