I worked for General Motors parts div, for 18 mo's. then attended K.C.J.C. for 2 years. Lost my parents due to auto accident in 1962; which interrupted my schooling. At that time I started full time work again. In 1964 I joined the USNR; spent 6 mo's. active and 5 1/2 yrs. inactive in reserves. After returning from my 6 mo's. of active duty I changed careers and spent several years in the wholesale plumbing business. I married Bonnie Bashor; class of 1960 SouthEast H.S. 3 children Mike 26, Matt 23, Marcie 20. We divorced in 1975. Married again in 1976 to Cheri Eisenhart South East Class of '61. One child Brook 17; stayed together until 1985. I am presently engaged to Jan Headrick - Weddle; Christman class of '57. I have been in appliance retail for past 18 years and work for Sears at Metcalf South Jan and I presently live in Overland Park. Brock lives with us; he graduated from SMW this year. Life is good! Roger L. Anderson received BS, MS, and Ph.D. Degree's from the University of Missouri (in 1963, 1965, and 1976, respectively). He married Barbara Carole Giovanini in 1971 and divorced in 1987. They have two children: John and Jared. Roger retired from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atalanta, GA on October 1, 1988 after serving 33 years of active duty in the U.S. Pubic Health Service. He was a research microbiologist and scientist at CEC with laboratory and epidemiological interests in the prevention and control of nosocomial or hospital-acuired infections. Roger is single and enjoys retirement, the outdoors, physical activity and exercise, and spending time with his only grandchild, Jordan, age 1.

In 1965, I moved to Albany to work for the New York State Dept. of Civil Service. My first job with the State was as a personnel examiner trainee. Currently my title is Staffing Services Program Manager. I met my wife in Albany. She was born and raised in upstate NY, I am the keeper of Exch. for my fraternity (Kappa Alpha Psi - hello Nupes) and I am active in the one hundred black men organization.

I'm still alive an kicking....... When I left Central in '59, I came back to Los Angeles where I was born. I attended the University of Southern California. Later drafted into the Army in '64, doing my time in the infantry for two years with the "big red one" division. Yes! I did go to Vietnam in '65 and saw a lot of combat as a grunt. Once out of that mess, I got a job a KABC radio in Los Angeles for a while. Then moved to the CBS owned radio station here in '68. I got married in '69 we had one daughter in '74. I was married for 23 years before my wife said she had enough. We parted our ways. I have been at KNX radio for 31 years. It's an all-news CBS owned station. I'm the managing editor.

During the Viet Nam era I served in the Air Force Reserve as Aircraft Mechanic. Also for a brief period served on the Independence Police Department. I left the Kansas City area pretty soon after graduation and lost touch with everyone!
I had to drop out of college in 1960 to marry Jeanette Johnson (Raytown '60). We had a son, John E. Evans, named after my Dad; whom I'm sure most of you remember was a teacher at Central. Johnny passed away in 1977, by his own hand, at age sixteen. In 1965, I married Christine Hoegler (Wyandotte '59) and we will celebrate our 35th anniversary this [2000] year. We have a son, Aaron a33y who graduated from Missouri Valley College, Marshall, MO; where he was a quarterback. We have a daughter, Aundria a30y who graduated from KU with a Bsn, and is a head nurse at KU Medical Center. Christine and I spent over 20 years in the St. Louis/Southern Illinois area. I spent 20 years with Wallace Pencil Company (Vice President/Sales & Marketing) while Christine worked as a "tax Expert" for a CPA firm. After Wallace Pencil was sold, we moved back to the Kansas City area to be closer to my elderly Mother(some of you may remember her as a some-time English teacher at Central.) Christine and I moved into my mother's house when it became necessary to put her in a nursing home. My dad died in 1960, but my Mother is STILL ALIVE, age 103 ! At present, [2000] Christine and I are putting in the last 2 years of our working career at UtiliCorp (Missouri Public Service) here in Raytown. I am a commercial trouble shooter, and Christine is an Associate Trader.
We have 5 grand-children, Lindsey (5), Nathan (4), Justin (3), Nicholas (2) and Dalton (1 month). You can guess how spoiled they are! In the past few years it has been wonderful to discard the suit and tie, kick back, and just be "ole Earl". I spend as much time as possible driving my Dodge pickup down to my "little cabin in the woods" close to Oceola, Missouri. There I am able to participate in my passions: Hunting and fishing. My hobby, however. is collecting and listening to the BLUES.

I enjoy what I do so I�m continuing to work. MMC builds mostly very large project all over the USA , such as hospitals, Labs,Bi0-Science, Pharmacy Mfg Fac, etc, I get to mentor a lot of young folks, which I like to do very much. Four years later I graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine The most memorable event that year besides graduation was marrying Mary in January 1967. We moved to Los Angeles where I did my internship followed by two year in the military including one year as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force and Vietmam. We returned to Kansas City and I began and completed residency in ophthalmology from 1973 to 1976. Our daughter, Amy, was born just before I left for Vietnam and was enjoying life here in Kansas City. Following residency, I went into private practice of ophthalmology here in Kansas City and have remained in the practice of ophthalmology here in Kansas City and have remained in the practice of my specialty in ophthalmology ever since then. My interest and focus has been on cataract surgery and related medical and surgical conditions. My practice has grown to include 15 other ophthalmologist and an additional 16 optometrist practicing in the Metropolitan area. Along the way I have enjoyed a six-year term as Chairman of the Dept. of Ophthalmology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine ending in the year 2000. Mary and I have been blessed to travel rather extensively to medical meetings where I have enjoyed the opportunity of speaking virtually all over the world. We enjoy doing more of that as each year passes. Our daughter Amy, will be returning to Kansas City to practice veterinary ophthalmology, a unique but challenging subspecialty in veterinary medicine. My wife, Mary; remains highly committed to many community activities over the years but currently serving on the Board of the Harry S. Truman Library and institute, the Board of the United Way and the Board of Children's Mercy Hospital. My hat is off to her on her accomplishments and as one of the busiest community volunteer. We have every intention at the Reunion and look forward to seeing our many classmates and friends from Central High School where I had a most marvelous educational opportunity with the fine faculty and other students. Class of 1959 - COE. Class 1959 Photo: Class 1959, Pg 89, Row 5.c My sister Carolyn Cooper married Curtis H Winters. I can't give a lot of details of his after graduation life, but can touch on it. He married Carolyn Louise Cooper Feb 1960 (she would have graduated from Central H.S. in '61) They had 2 children born to this Union: Jeannifer Winters, b. Sept 1960 and Jeannette Winters, b. Sept. 1961, They were Divorced in Dec 1964. The last information we have about Curtis is - While working on a car in his garage at his home, the car fell off the jack stands and he was trapped underneath killing him. I started at Finley College in 1967 and graduated in '69 with both a BSME and a BSEE degree. We moved to Lake Lotawana, MO. in '75 where we still live. Sue and I had 2 wonderful children - Karen, born in '62 and Rusty, born in '64 We are the proud grandparents of two granddaughters, both from Rusty. They are Lacy 7 and Johnna 3.
